RECUP

Partner platform for reusable coffee-to-go cups | SHOPWARE

WHAT IT’S ABOUT

It all started with a pilot project in Rosenheim in 2016. Today, RECUP operates a national deposit-return system throughout Germany for reusable coffee-to-go cups and is now even cooperating with international partners, e.g. in South Africa.

The latest development for the RECUP partner platform, based on the Shopware eCommerce system, was a challenging and exciting task, encompassing a massive amount of concept work, extensive functions while keeping operation intuitive, a lot of individual adjustments, future-safety, scalability and process optimization.

THE RESULTING CONCEPT

components

  • Further development and refining of the UX concept
  • Illustration of animations
  • Technical concept
  • Interfaces to various systems (logistics, ERP, payment services, mobile app)
  • Technical implementation

A significant proportion of the partner platform, alongside pure e-shop functionality, consists of a module for managing the issuing points for cups and their memberships, which needed to be integrated into the Shopware process. Here, a large number of individual and differing processes and statuses needed to be taken into consideration and shown: orders, payments, durations for memberships, connection to external interfaces etc.

The interface design

We carried out 14 sprints to adapt the airy and elegant original design to the Shopware processes. The result was generous, friendly and illustrative. It is characterized by clarity and a focus on optimal user-friendliness, leaving no hint of the technical complexity behind it. In addition, cute animations explain the RECUP concept.

SHOPWARE

Once more the Shopware foundation needed to undergo huge expansions and adjustments, executed via customized special developments. One example is how customer addresses can now be “upgraded” to issuing points. Users can then create memberships for these issuing points and manage them on their own. Another special characteristic is that most of the items in the shop are deposit-return articles and thus are not actually "bought” per se. Last but not least, the partner platform features several interfaces (some of which are bidirectional) to external systems – payment, ERP, logistics as well as the RECUP mobile app, developed in-house.
