Neos Conference 2025

Summary
In addition to exciting insights into Neos 9, inspiring exchanges with the community and a practical workshop, we were also able to help create a small piece of the atmosphere with our stand and official conference shirts.
We report below on what we experienced, learned and contributed.
We are enthusiastic about Neos Con every year - and 2025 was no exception. The special atmosphere, characterized by an open, inclusive community, inspires us again and again. Whether developers, designers or project managers - people meet here at eye level, share knowledge and exchange ideas openly.
Once again, the direct exchange with the Neos Core developers was a real highlight: asking questions, giving feedback, gaining insights into the roadmap - it doesn't get much closer than that.
What impresses us again and again is that the motto “Open Source, Open Minds” is not just said here, but really lived. This practiced openness and transparency makes the Neos Con a very special experience every year - a fixed date in our calendar.
Artificial intelligence (AI) played a role surprisingly often - whether in conversations between the talks or directly on stage. AI was already mentioned as a central topic in Robert's opening speech. The term “vibecoding” as an innovative alternative to classic wireframing was particularly exciting.
There were also exciting technical insights, such as how AI can be connected directly to the Neos CMS via the MCP (Model Content Protocol). This allows AI to independently create content, edit texts or carry out SEO optimizations - all automated and seamlessly integrated. These developments show how AI can facilitate and improve daily work with Neos in the future.
A key topic at this year's Neos Con was undoubtedly the release of Neos 9. Finally live - and the start of a new chapter for the system and the community. The core developers used the conference to provide comprehensive information about the new features and dispel any fears about the changeover. The clear message: Don't be afraid of the update! Concrete strategies, examples and an active Q&A session were used to show how existing projects and packages can be prepared for Neos 9.
Particularly strong: customers were also represented on site and actively participated in the panel discussion on usability in the backend - a good sign of the close cooperation between users and developers. Improved usability in the backend is a declared goal for the next development phase - now that the major release has been completed.
For us as an agency, Neos 9 means one thing above all: future-proofing. The many technical improvements and the open communication of the core developers give us the confidence to actively support our customers during the changeover and to use the new features in a targeted manner.
Another highlight was the Neos 9 workshop on the day before the conference. There we were able to try out the new, event-sourced content repository in a hands-on session. The tasks - from setting up an API interface to building an importer - were practical and test-driven. Instead of manual trial-and-error, the focus was on writing Behat tests. This test-driven approach not only ensured stable results, but also faster development cycles - an approach that we are already using successfully in our current Neos 8 projects.
Neos 9 is therefore not only a big step forward in terms of technology, but also in terms of developer-friendliness, stability and future viability.

Supporting the Neos community has been a matter close to our hearts as a digital agency for many years - in very different roles and forms. Whether through contributions, involvement in development or as a sponsor, we are proud to be part of this special community.

This year, we were there as a Gold Sponsor - with our own stand, where we were not only able to present our work, but also provide the necessary refreshments: Our ice chest with handmade fruit ice from Pop-Ice was a real highlight in the summer temperatures. True to the motto: Commit to cool work.
We were also allowed to design the official conference shirts - and also took on the production. The special feature: The print glows in the dark - and caused quite a few surprises.
We would like to thank everyone who visited us at the stand for the great exchange and the familiar, open atmosphere - we are already looking forward to the next Neos Con!
