REXCAR is a digital B2B auction platform for selling vehicles – a start-up that brings car dealerships and car dealers together digitally. However, in order to be a success on the market, we needed two crucial ingredients: a catchy name and professional branding. So we locked ourselves away for a few hours and, a couple of post-its later, the brand name “REXCAR” was created. At first, this compound word primarily evoked the classic watchdog that guards the premises and the cars that are sold. Only later on we realized that it also fits perfectly with the name of the CEO and founder, Kevin König (“König” meaning “king” in English and ”rex” in Latin). You couldn’t have planned it better.

Bringing together what belongs together
 

The notion of matching up car dealerships and car dealers guided us in the branding process: The two groups are represented by different colors – a cold-warm contrast of red and cyan, and we combined these two colors to make the base color for this platform, which unites the two groups. Thus, the X in REXCAR marks the spot where the two target groups meet and is therefore the focal point of the logo. This clear thread through the design is also carried through the business stationary and the online platform, in combination with signature illustrations.
