SOCIAL INTRANET FOR OVER 2,000 EMPLOYEES | NEOS CMS
WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT
The Nemetschek Group is a world-leading software manufacturer for architects, engineers, construction companies, and facility managers serving 2.7 million users in 142 countries with 15 brands. The innovative software solutions are setting new standards in the field of digital construction. The Nemetschek Group relied on us for the development and realization of a social intranet portal.
THE resulting concept
- Total concept
- Content strategy
- Screen design
- Technical implementation
- Video Campaign
This project was a very special challenge for us: The Nemetschek Group has more than 2,000 employees throughout the world. Getting them all on the same “digital page” required an extremely individualized conception and coordination process. Because without a high, and in particular voluntary level of user acceptance, the enterprise probably wouldn't yield the intended success... this then led to “ONE” a demanding browser-based social intranet. It is a customized social platform that reaches far beyond the simple provision of information through a conventional intranet, and it particularly promotes the feeling of belonging within the group. The introduction of “ONE” - a video campaign that we supported throughout the company - was a big success, and soon after going live the number of registrations was already overwhelming.
The interface design
A widget-customizable dashboard, modern interaction elements such as calendars, maps, intelligent filter, and search functions as well as the fully responsive design give the impression of using an app rather than a classic intranet. The mix of business and personal flair makes you want to interact, and it also promotes the “ONE feeling”.
The underlying technology
The key technical objective of the project was essentially to create a streamlined and flexible application character coupled with simple editorial manageability of the content.
The Neos CMS which is based on the flow framework, offers an excellent basis for this. The configurable dashboard page, the employee directory with a lightning-fast search function (thanks to the integration of the powerful Elasticsearch engine), news and document management with tagging, filtering, sorting, and highly granular access controls, were used to efficiently implement these and other individual features.
The user interface was developed with React, whereby the content from Neos was supplied through a JSON API. The media management built into Neos has been extended to reflect the complex user rights scenario of many Nemetschek brands.
